Vuohijärvi Nature and Culture House is a gem of art tourism, a haven for relaxation near Repovesi National Park. We organize changing art exhibitions every summer that combine the beauty of nature with art. Visitors also have access to a boutique and a tourist information point, which enrich the cultural visit.
Historically significant, the building that now serves as the nature and culture house was completed in 1966 and originally functioned as the Vuohijärvi church. Designed by architect Väinö Vuorinen, the building is an excellent example of 1960s modernism, featuring a church hall, a parish hall (now an exhibition hall and Café Kaakkuri), and an office wing. The building underwent a significant transformation when Tuomas Hoikkala of Art Centre Salmela acquired it and carried out extensive renovations, converting it into a nature and culture house. Thanks to the renovations, the building was revitalized, and its opening was celebrated on June 17, 2015.
Additionally, to the delight of visitors, the Love Park was opened in 2016, designed by architect Riitta Vesala and hortonomist Oona Toivonen. This park brings a new dimension to art experiences with its beautiful stonework and plantings.
Vuohijärvi Nature and Culture House invites you to experience the meeting of nature and art in a unique environment. Our diverse and popular art exhibitions await – come and let nature and culture inspire you.
