Verla Museum and World Heritage Site becomes a more holistic experience
Verla's Christmas market 2022
Welcome to Verla's first Christmas market – meet Santa Claus and enjoy the Christmas treats
Verla's first Christmas market will be held on Saturday 26.11 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Verla Mill Museum. More than 30 market stalls sell Finnish handicrafts, food and pastries. You can get creative in several handicraft workshops.
"Verla's Christmas market can be accessed when the product has been manufactured entirely in Finland. I believe there is interest in this kind of thing, and I hope that people will find their way here, even though the event is being held for the first time," says Elisa Lönnroth, from Verlan tapahtumat association.
Where did the idea for Verla's Christmas market come from?
In Central Europe, there are Christmas markets everywhere, so it was easy to find influences for the atmospheric and unique milieu there. It would be great if Verla could also be vibrant in the winter. There are no museum tours during the Christmas market.
"The idea was born already a year ago when we were planning Verla's Christmas lighting. Now, in the 150th anniversary year, the moment for the Christmas market felt right. To my delight, Verlan tapahtumat association became a responsible organizer, and the museum is involved as a partner. I hope that this will be a new tradition for Verla," says Ville Majuri, Verla's Museum Director. "We hope that the people will come to spend the Saturday with the whole family to enjoy time together, the atmosphere of the Christmas market and activities. " Ville adds.
What will you find here?
There are pony rides for children and handicraft workshops. There is also Santa Claus, to whom you can leave a Christmas letter. You can get a photo with Santa Claus with the whole family. There are plenty of domestic gift ideas and Christmas treats, such as Christmas porridge, pancakes, mulled wine and meat pies. In addition to gift and delicacy shopping, we also have Christmas music.
"We have ordered a little frost and snow for the day of the event," Elisa Lönnroth assures.
The main organiser of the event is Verlan tapahtumat association. The partners of the event are Verla Mill Museum and the Jaala Local Heritage Foundation. Read more about the program and a list of sellers www.verlantapahtumat.com.
